Eight-Year-Old Girl Katie Pritschier Slain in New York
A brutal, unexplained murder in a foreign-populated neighborhood on First Avenue near 13th Street shocks New York. Eight-year-old Katie Pritschier disappeared July 25, found murdered last Thursday with a tightly tied ribbon around her throat and extensive mutilation. Police suspect cobbler Gaetano Rippolano, who worked near the home, as a person of interest after a stained shirt was found at his shop. Police also search for a former roomer who left the Pritschier home after a quarrel.

Footpads Arrested After Scranton Robberies
In Scranton Pennsylvania Aug 2 two highwaymen Leo Hoftert and Harry Libeu were captured after being seen near a butcher shop. Police found a revolver sandbags masks burglar keys and other items at their lodgings. They reportedly confessed to five highway robberies and burglaries and implicated actor John Secure who claimed he lost 16 dollars in one hold up while the burglars say they stole only 34 cents.

Dived to Death: E R Watson Dies in Pool
E R Watson of Philadelphia, president of Northern National Bank and treasurer of Henry Jess Brewing Co, died at the Columbia pool at Broad and Oxford. He fell from the diving board, struck the concrete edge, and drowned after sinking unconscious in the water. He was believed to have heart disease and may have died before entering the water.

Farmer captures and burns auto near Highland Park
An Illinois farmer organized a small group of his hired hands to capture a speeding auto whose occupants allegedly ran down the farmer’s daughter near Highland Park.
