Filmmaker sues Singleton over Learning script theft claim
Maryland filmmaker Darryl Wharton alleges in an $18 billion suit that John Singleton stole his senior project script caught out there and based higher learning on it. Wharton, 27, says similar scenes themes and a character share the same name. He wrote the script in 1990 at Ithaca College and says Singleton’s Higher Learning depicts Unity College and racial tensions in Southern California.
