GM may hire 1300 new workers at Baltimore plant
GM could hire up to 1300 new workers at the Broening Highway assembly plant as it adds a third shift to run around the clock. The move aims to meet rising demand for the Chevrolet Astro and EMC Safari vans with 24 hour production and may shift staff from other GM plants. Union officials say about 200 temporary workers have been hired recently as production increases, and local suppliers would benefit from expanded output.
