Winners At Thurmont Science Fair Announced
The Thurmont High School Science Fair announced winners after about 125 projects. Judges included Audrey Pressler Herman Hauer and Thomas Hives. Ronald E. Smith, a sophomore, won the grand prize a gold expression and a year subscription to Thurmont News for his magnetothermism project.

Frederic Playground and Pool Dates Set for 1958 Season
The Fredericks Recreation Commission announced playgrounds open June 23 to August 22 and city pools run June 14 to Labor Day. Staff training is set June 16 to June 21 with Ruth Ehlers of the National Recreation Association visiting June 18 and 19. Red Cross coordinated swimming classes begin with five two week sessions noon to 1 pm, junior and senior life saving from 12 to 1 pm, and pool classes 10 to 11 am. Registration at Red Cross May 9 to 1 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays. guardians only may register children.

Liberty town PTA Elects Officers For Coming Year
The April Liberty Town PTA meeting elected officers for the coming year. President Stewart Cashour and Vice President Holmes Baker will lead, with secretary Mrs Sylvester Whitmore and treasurer Mrs Ramier Zimmerman among others. A science fair update and library talks followed, plus volunteers were asked to sort donated clothes for those in need.
