Pension welfare funds bill faces Senate test
The Senate narrowly passed a pension and welfare funds regulation bill after a long debate over broadening it into general labor legislation. Republicans offered 14 amendments, most defeated, while Mundt’s proposal to bar criminals from officer or trustee roles was accepted 90-0. The measure aims to register funds, require full financial reports, and impose penalties for fraud, with a 4 year review window and an advisory council to labor secretary.

The Court of Gar ret e County Circuit Court affirmed an order setting aside an award to Harald Grendorf of Oakland by the State Industrial Accident Commission. The court ruled the farm laborer was engaged in agricultural work when injured and thus not eligible for workers compensation benefits. The decision also upheld the dismissal of Forsyth’s suit for sale of land and left intact the sale of the Hoffman property.
