A Frederick committee report to the city and state roads commission finds only one Market street block worth repairing, from All Saints street to South street. It details brick pavement wear since 1910, extensive water mains under tracks, many lead service pipes, and multiple gas mains requiring replacement across blocks from Fifth to Ninth streets, with emphasis on cost comparisons to new construction.
The Supreme Court overturned a ruling on serving liquor on American ships at sea but upheld the ban on bringing liquor into U S ports under bond. Within three miles the court sided with Judge Hand that ships may not bring liquor into port, whether American or foreign. The decision clarifies restrictions inside territorial waters and on outbound voyages.
Mrs. Rosetta Daugherty Warren, 34, was instantly killed when a dynamite blast shattered her home in Paducah Kentucky. Her three children were injured. Authorities say Henrietta Wagner alias Thomas and Emma Skillian are charged with murder in connection with the blast.
