Two County Teachers Seek National Certification
Kim Stewart of Glade Elementary and Bill Severance of Middletown Elementary pursue national certification, a program begun in 1995 with few Frederick County teachers achieving it. Certification demands yearlong reflection, essays, portfolios, and videotaped lessons, with a $2000 fee. Maryland's first cohort in November included Brian Lucas and Deborah Carter, while Ms Stewart and Mr Severance received funding from State Farm and Frederick County Public Schools.
