Six Italians Die By Gas In Greenwich Street Lodging House
April 29 New York six unidentified Italians from Midvale Pennsylvania were found dead in a third floor Greenwich Street lodging house. The door had been sealed from inside and a gas jet left on suggesting stealth or fear of thieves. seventy two Italians had gathered in the building awaiting passage to Europe. A porter forced entry and discovered the victims on cots. In Selinsgrove Pennsylvania a Shaver fraud case led to the arrest of B.D. McOmber of Milton for fraudulent mail usage. McOmber advertised a razorless beard removal preparation and attempted to demonstrate it on Milton Postmaster Hopkins, leaving the postmaster's face in a ruinous state. The arrest followed.

Henry Snyder was found guilty of first degree murder in the killing of the Hoover brothers, Carvin and William, near York, Pennsylvania.
