Final tax sale looms as county auctions 731 properties
County treasurer notes delinquencies come from new owner confusion and mortgage payables. Two developers, Robin Meadows Country Homes and Palisades Development Corp, top the list with 7 and 36 properties owed. May 14 sale at Winchester Hall starts 10 a.m. Proceeds go to taxes due, with bids in 28 districts. Current owners may still pay until foreclosure, after which six months pass before foreclosing, and two years to complete.

Experts debate lawn care methods and chemical use
Voices diverge on lawn maintenance with experts citing chemical and biological options. Bill Harrigan defends pesticides like Diazinon when used properly, while advocating Milky Spore for limited turf and noting long buildup times. David Lantz favors spot treatment and biologicals, urging professional application and threshold-based control. Environmental officials stress that pesticides are toxic yet regulated to avoid unreasonable risks.
