Army plans to shut National Guard facility in Arlington
About 200 federal employees learn their jobs will move to the Washington area even if a proposed Army National Guard facility in Arlington VA is cut from the federal budget. General Temple says consolidating five branch offices and the Edgewood unit may occur near or in the Pentagon, with or without the $28 million request. Rep. Helen Bentley says she was surprised by the plan to proceed without a new building. Fire calls and lottery results are also noted in the report.
