Hundreds walk to aid March of Dimes fundraiser
About 800 people joined WalkAmerica in Frederick to raise funds for birth defect prevention. Four year old Ryan Webber cut the ribbon at the start, with finish times ranging from two hours to eight hours. Philip Amyx led finishers in Frederick at 2 hours 18 minutes, over $500 pledged. Roswitha Lechner was the first woman to finish in 2 hours 40 minutes. Statewide Baltimore saw 14,500 participants in a 35 kilometer walk, raising about $1.1 million.
