The five year old son of Equipoise won by three lengths, time 1:54.5 for a mile and one sixteenth, just shy of the track record. Judy Johnson made her Maryland debut in silks as the first licensed woman jockey in the state. Lone Gallant, trained by Miss Johnson, finished 10th in the steeplechase.
The Roy L. Wolf pack lost 4 to 0 to Frederick Iron and Steel Company ten in a seven inning game at Baker Park. About 300 granite spectators watched the near record 48 minute contest.
