Poverty Not Cause of Malnutrition Among Jewish Children
Investigators Rena A. Frank and Hilda Marcus Bernheim report to the Baltimore Council of Jewish Women that malnutrition stems from improper food and unsanitary living conditions, not poverty. The study focuses on Jewish children, reviews lunch programs in other cities, and recommends home-based relief and parental education over wide free lunches. The findings emphasize nutrition tied to sanitation, housing, and access to proper food rather than widespread poverty.
