May Complete Its Case In Murder Trial Today
In Gettysburg on April 26, the State rested 11 witnesses in the opening round of the murder trial of George W. Gingell, charged with fatally shooting Lee Maier outside the Tract Inn between Fairfield and Emmitsburg. District Attorney Daniel E. Teeter foregoes a specific penalty, saying the jury will determine punishment after hearing all testimony. Key witnesses include waitress Lottie Boyer who testified Maier threatened Gingell, and Harrisburg state police photographer James Knipple who identified over 20 photos from March 25 to Maier’s death. The defense to cross-examine on related statements from the police investigation. The report also mentions continuing political commentary and livestock market prices from the region.
