Optical Co Site Before Plans Board
The American Optical Company plant site on Hughes Ford road will be reviewed by the City Planning Commission in a public hearing Monday May 14 at 7 p m dst. A preliminary plat shows the subdivision from municipal airport property and a Potts farm parcel owned by John Renn Jr Mrs Ida Kir Tenn and Robert E Renn will file before the hearing in the city engineer’s office. Approval by the Planning Commission is a final step before the land is acquired by American Optical Company which has announced plans for a plant here. The city earlier rezoned the site to industrial use. Final approval by the Civil Aeronautics Administration of the sale of airport land to the firm is expected soon with no hitch. The CAA has approved similar airport land sales for industrial projects in recent months. Approval at the Harrisburg area office has occurred with documents now at higher levels. The Potts farm parcel fronts 700 feet on Hughes Ford road and extends 850 feet northward, with the adjacent airport area fronting 200 feet on the same road and also extending northward 850 feet.
