Maryland Governor Marvin Mandel said he knows nothing about reports that Dale Hess and Harry Rodgers are under federal investigation in Baltimore. He says the matter should remain private and he expects no impact on his re election campaign. Mandel notes Hess and Rodgers are close friends and business associates and he would welcome their support unless evidence of wrongdoing emerges. He also plans to sign a bill raising Maryland home loan interest ceilings from 8 to 10 percent and has no plans to lift the gasoline odd even rule.

The Maryland Real Estate Commission heard arguments in the case against Gilmore R. Flautt Jr. of Frederick over unpaid settlement costs from a March 3 1973 contract involving sellers Mrs and Mr Flautt and buyers 106 Corporation. Denick testified Flautt issued a $5203 check for repairs that bounced and Flautt says he paid costs though the record shows no payment to him. The commission member pressed whether Flautt’s failure to pay settlement costs affected the buyers' mortgage and whether the process was premature.
