Colonel Is Fined Colonel Is Fined

The U S Air Force penalized Lt Col Charles Piatt Jr with a time reprieve and forfeiture of 340 dollars after a rushed trip to Hawaii delayed seven servicemen from a flight to attend sick relatives in the United States. One passenger complained to Lt Gen Robert W Burns, who rebooked the Piatt family and seated six others, leaving one man to return home next day. The incident required jettisoning 1656 gallons of fuel to land safely, and a new assignment has not yet been set for Piatt.
