Segregation Ban Extended To Intrastate Transportation
The Supreme Court extended its ban on racial segregation to intrastate public transportation, ruling that segregation in any form on buses within a state is unconstitutional. The decision, unanimous, applies to states with ongoing intrastate segregation and cites the 1896 Plessy v. Ferguson framework as repudiated. The ruling follows prior court actions targeting interstate transport and related public facilities.
