Assessments in Frederick County Delay Tax Book Entries
A failed 1953 assessment bill leaves Frederick County properties’ tax valuations static through 1956. Though reassessments occur 1954 to 1957, tax records won’t reflect new values until 1957, delaying any potential declines or increases. Clerical load rises in 1956 to transfer values for 1957 taxes. Commissioners see no path to reenactment this session.
