Interstate hearing probes unfair rail connections for Morris Iron Works
Representatives from Morris Iron Works and local shippers testified before Examiner Ward Hrowty at the Interstate Commerce Commission hearing on interchanges and physical connections among three railroads. Oscar B. Coblentz described costs of transfers and lack of direct links, noting higher tonnage handling on the Northern Central and Frederick roads. The session, with lawyers from Baltimore and Ohio and NC lines, focused on remedies to enable direct connections and lower shipping costs to aid local industry.
