Jail Terms Given To Old Offenders
Old offenders on charges of home nation were handed jail sentences in default of fines Wednesday night before Magistrate Edward J. Smith. The State still uses St. Marys in Baltimore as a juvenile correctional institution run by the Xaverian Brothers. St Marys has 152 boys and faced a $31,914 deficit next year with a need for $30,000 in repairs. The board agreed to absorb the deficit until the end of next year and to consult with the Baltimore Catholic Archdiocese on long range plans.
