Two local women hurt in separate accidents
Two Frederick County women were seriously injured in two separate crashes on Monday. Darlene Evans Williams, 46, of Point Clear Court New Market, drove a 1996 Saab into a horse on Ijamsville Road at 8:28 p.m. and the car overturned after going off the road. She was flown to Washington County Hospital with head injuries. The horse was boarded at a local farm. In a second crash earlier that day Tommie Lee Barnes, 84, of Rock Creek Drive, failed to stop at a stop sign on Rock Creek Drive and struck Ruth Naomi McEwen, 75, on Bowers Road. Barnes was hospitalized in Baltimore in critical but stable condition. McEwen and a passenger were treated and released. Investigation ongoing.
