Worcester County poultry dealer Paul Feig of Bishop was fined 2000 dollars after pleading guilty in Federal Court to shipping dressed chickens unfit for human consumption. Judge Roszel C. Thomsen imposed a suspended 60 day sentence and ordered financial review as Feig faced payment concerns. About 1400 pounds of badly decomposed chickens were shipped to Chester Pennsylvania and roughly 600 pounds found behind his Washington store. Mothers Away Six Children Die In Fire In Washington
A oil fed blaze tore through a two story row house in southwest Washington killing six children aged three months to seven years and severely burning three others. The victims were children of Mrs. Dorothy Parker and her sister Mrs. Mary P. Saunders who were away at a relative’s home. Police report a three vehicle collision Friday around 1 24 pm on North Market Street about 200 feet south of Third Street.
