Maryland General Fund Surplus Reported at 5 714 919

Maryland's general fund surplus for the current fiscal year is set at 5 714 919 dollars, about 700 thousand less than earlier estimates due to revenue losses from tax relief approved by the 1950 General Assembly. Governor Lane's budget message had projected 6 456 642 dollars surplus as of June 30, 1950, with 813 000 to remain by June 30, 1951 after a 2 000 000 revenue loss. Budget Director Rennie noted the surplus estimate rose to 75 000 after adjustments, signaling the likely outcome remains uncertain.
