A Morgantown couple and their nineteen month old daughter escaped with only minor injuries when their auto caught fire on Route 40 near New Market at 5:40 this morning. State Trooper James Stonesifer said Gerald and Mrs. Doub, en route to a Baltimore hospital, saw smoke from under the dash after dimming headlights. The car burned quickly. the operator suffered a burn to the left hand while saving articles. They left the scene by bus after truck drivers aided with extinguishers and secured a ride to Ridgeville for onward travel.

Crash damages $1000 on Route 240 near Clarksburg
A 1949 Buick convertible coupe driven by William Roy Miller of Annville PA collided with a 1948 GMC tractor trailer headed to Washington on Route 240 one half mile south of Clarksburg at 12:35 this morning. Miller and two passengers were treated for lacerations and bruises at Suburban Hospital. The driver of the tractor trailer, Haywood McFarden of Stakewood SC, was charged with reckless driving and held on a $500 bond. he was not injured. Police from Montgomery County investigated.

Boston April 20 AP two new ways to stop angina pains were reported to the American College of Physicians. One is khallin a drug from a weed of Arabia and the eastern Mediterranean. The other is to press the carotid sinus on the neck. Doctors Osher and Katz treated 28 patients with angina pectoris. most were relieved and eight returned to work. Khallin dilates arteries reducing pain and nitroglycerine use. The drug is for doctors only and not for sale. The neck pressure method showed instant relief in volunteers by stimulating a nerve center. This explores nerve reflux treatment for angina.
