88 New Nursing Home Beds Authorized for Frederick County
A regional planning agency approved 88 new nursing home beds for Frederick County, the lion’s share of 148 beds allocated to four western Maryland counties. Remaining 60 beds may be distributed competitively. County currently has 550 beds. 68 percent of residents aged 65 plus lack local beds. The plan aims for 100-120 beds to be economically feasible and to deinstitutionalize services.
