Frederick County seeks 18 more jail guards for new facility
Frederick County jail officials urge the commissioners to fund 18 additional security positions plus two staff for a work release center at the new adult detention center. Jail chief Doxzen had asked for 38 new roles. 20 were approved in the 1985 budget. Relying on a staffing analysis, Maryland officials warn proper supervision requires design-based staffing. The plan committee and Sheriff Snyder stress adequate, safe staffing to prevent escapes, citing a Baltimore County example. Continued on Page A-4.
