Fund-raiser cleared of license violation in Maryland case
A 32-year-old Annapolis man was found not guilty of operating a fund raising campaign without a license after a Frederick County District Court judge ruled there was no proof he was notified the license had been revoked. Ronald Hubenzer worked for Great Lakes Productions to raise funds for the Myersville Volunteer Fire Co. and two concerts were planned with $3,000 to go to fire equipment purchases. Records showed a license revocation notice existed, but Hubenzer could not be shown to have been aware of it, leading to acquittal.
