Five solid waste solutions offered by Frederick County consultant
Frederick County solid waste consultant Gershman Brickner and Batton proposed five options including contracts with municipalities for disposal and recycling, a cross jurisdiction waste-for-ash exchange with nearby counties, an RFP for transfer stations or out-of-county disposal, and negotiating recyclables flows with neighboring counties. They also recommended limiting new landfill capacity, adopting a waste generator fee, reducing dumping fees from 45 to 25–30 dollars per ton, and pursuing collection contracts, with action needed in fiscal 1998.
