Man Dies After Car Slips From Jack Crushing Chest
A 26 year old Silver Spring man Syk vester Hill was killed early this morning when a car he was working on in a vacant Frederick garage slipped from a bumper jack and crushed his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene around 8 35 a m. County Medical Examiner Dr B O Thomas J J attributed death to internal injuries. Hill had come to Frederick Friday night to visit Thomas Ambush of South Bentz Street when his 1963 Chevrolet broke down. Ambush, who uses a vacant South Bentz Street garage owned by Charles P Hiteshew, let Hill sleep in the car. This morning Ambush found Hill with the car on top of him. Police said the bumper jack apparently slipped.

Hit and run driver arrested after chase to Mt Airy
Two unidentified men chased the hit and run car for seven miles after a Friday night crash on Md 144 in New Market. They forced the vehicle off the road in Mt Airy and turned the driver over to State Police. Walter Eugene Runkles, 22, of RFD 4 Mt Airy, faces charges of failing to stop after a personal injury accident and other counts. Marshall Eugene Tyler, 16, of RFD 1 Mt Airy, was injured with a broken leg and a broken hand. Runkles was held in jail on $1,000 bond.

Jetliner Crashes in Persian Gulf After Dhahran Miss
A Middle East Airlines Air Liban twin jet crashed in shallow water ten miles off the Arabian coast near Dhahran after overshooting the airport in a sand storm. Twenty three Americans were among 49 aboard. Search teams including US and British forces scoured the Gulf for survivors.
