Morella launches campaign walk to win GOP nomination
Republican Connie Morella begins a people to people campaign across Montgomery County for the May 13 8th District primary. The five mile walk starts at Mount Ephraim borders Frederick and Montgomery counties and will traverse Barnesville Gaithersburg Wheaton and other stops before continuing toward Potomac Rockville Bethesda and Chevy Chase. She aims to hear from residents and insists officials have become distant and arrogant.

Plans for new Carroll rail line venture emerge
Investors Robert Trevorrow of New York City and Alexander Kerr of Philadelphia propose a new Carroll County based rail company to restore the 50 mile line from Highfield to Emery Grove connecting Westminster to Baltimore port. They seek Chessie System approval to buy the line and fund via public stock and an industrial revenue bond. The project would require an experienced railroad partner and regulatory clearance, with a potential launch this year if agreements succeed.
