Man recovering after auto crash

Gaithersburg man killed after quarrel with father
A 20-year-old Gaithersburg man, Howard Mandel Thompson, was shot in the face during a kitchen dispute with his father over a 14-year-old girl. Howard Lee Thompson Jr., 41, is jailed without bond on murder charges. The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. as the father sought to address the situation after a telephoned warning from the girl’s father. The victim had recently been released from jail.
