Hughes urges federal support for bay cleanup efforts
Maryland Governor Harry Hughes tells a U S Senate subcommittee that ongoing federal funding is essential to implement recommendations from a major Chesapeake Bay study. He urges $10 million annually for four years, with state matches, to curb nutrient pollution and protect bay resources. A separate Cornell report notes hairy potato plants may trap pests, offering potential long term pest control reducing pesticide use.
