Montgomery schools urge budget above executive cap in 1988 plan
Montgomery County school officials say maintaining current services and funding contracts requires about 12 million more than the executive 515 million limit for fiscal 1988. The Citizens Budget booklet cites enrollment growth, two new elementary schools, and union agreements as driving factors behind a 526.8 million estimate, while the board seeks 538.2 million with 41.5 million for improvements including expanded all day kindergarten, more counselors, computer aids, and rising per pupil materials.
