Colorado River mega-dam plan would chain Grand Canyon
U.S. Geologic Survey proposes a 13 dam system along 900 miles of the Colorado River from Glen Canyon to near Devil's Slide. The project creates 350 miles of artificial lakes with a 3,760 foot drop, aiming to control floods, irrigate 6 million acres, and generate billions in power, while preserving canyon scenery.
