Sandra Tucker and Tom Stanley won the girls and boys divisions of the 35th annual Frederick Optimist Club oratorical contest held March 31 at Dan-Dee Restaurant. First-place winners advance to zone competition, with district levels offering $1,000 scholarships. Optimist International awards total nearly $60,000 yearly.
