Maryland officials offered a nine point package of benefits for the Catoctin Furnace area and Cunningham Falls State Park if U S 15 through the Furnace is built as planned. The plan includes archeological work, a full time archaeologist, drainage improvements, easement returns, a retaining wall, a noise berm, a pedestrian bridge, a roadside rest area, and possible removal of Catoctin Furnace Road if approved.

Public Works approves Woodsboro park land sale
The Maryland Board of Public Works approved selling 87 acres of state land east of Woodsboro on Md 550 and Israel Creek to the town for a park.
