Mount Airy Council to name cluster option zoning panel

Mount Airy moves to name a cluster option zoning committee and imposes a nine month moratorium on cluster subdivisions after a unanimous council vote. The panel will decide whether to drop the option or rewrite the ordinance to give the council more authority over cluster developments.

Walking tours of Frederick debut guided historic district walks

Frederick’s downtown Visitor Information Center launched a 90 minute guided walking tour of the Historic District led by four Tourism Council of Frederick County staffers. Tours cover Church Street churches Court Square Market and Patrick Streets and highlight the city’s founding growth key historic events architecture and 18th and 19th century homes. Residents and businesses are urged to share this service with visitors from out of town.

Russell Glass Studio duo to appear on Panorama show

Jim and Ruth Russell, stained glass craftsmen and owners of Russell Glass Studio in Frederick, will be featured guests on WTTG Channel 5 Panorama on Thursday April 6. They will display stained glass works on the set, discuss the Sugarloaf Mountain Works third annual Arts and Crafts Festival at the Montgomery County Fairground, and Mr Russell will demonstrate his craft around 12 15 p m after the noon news.
