Rehabilitation Aid Outlined by Counselor at Western Maryland Dinner
Laniev Harilteen Tr vara, a rehabilitation counselor for Carroll County, spoke to the Western Maryland Council for Crippled Children and Adults at the Carroll County Historical Society in Westminster. He noted the state program began 18 years ago, requires ages 16 to 65, disability and employability, and that paraplegics are increasingly common with more injuries than diseases or congenital defects. He emphasized educating physicians about rehabilitation and cited an average annual rehabilitation cost of 500 dollars and an average rehabilitated worker earning about 2,500 dollars yearly. Attendees included council members from Frederick, Carroll, Washington counties and Easter Seal Center coordinator Elliott Weinberg.

The Frederick Chidkens Aid Society lists 112 foster homes under supervision last month with 102 boarding homes, four adoptions, and four relative homes. CAS workers made 108 visits, 121 interviews, and two new cases were accepted. a trip to New York City for new Chamber membership was arranged for the monthly breakfast meeting led by Edgar Brownlow.

Thurmont Man Wins $1280 Judgment in Auto Collision Case
John F. Saylor of Thurmont was awarded 1280 dollars in Circuit Court Friday for damages from a collision on U S 15 at the Hagerstown interchange four years earlier. Saylor testified his car was a total loss with chest injuries and lost work time. The case against Doris M. Horst of Hagerstown was heard before Judge Robert E. Clapp Jr.
