Federal Judge declines to intervene in St. Augustine cases
In Jacksonville a federal judge refused to take charge of the 28 civil rights demonstrators arrested in St. Augustine and rejected petitions to bar police use of dogs. Judge Bryan Simpson ruled county courts could handle the cases, while noting expectations that not all demonstrators will be acquitted. Mrs. Malcolm Peabody posted a $450 bond and planned to travel to New York and Boston after a jail delay.
