Baltimore Man Fined 160 Or 65 Days In Jail
George Dever 31 was found guilty on two charges in Trial Magistrate Court. He faced a drunk driving count and a permit violation after Trooper Frost testified Dever drove under the influence on U S 40 near Duke’s Diner. Dever claimed Friday drinking and was unable to produce a license while a companion allegedly had one. Magistrate H Reese Shoemaker imposed 130 for drunken driving and 10 for the permit, with additional confusion over pay. Frederick County Children's Aid Society held its regular monthly meeting at Winchester Hall. Mrs. William C. Roderick presented March activities including 3 new cases involving 15 children, 7 released from care, 224 visits, 40 family department and 134 children's department, 58 family interviews, 70 homefinding expeditions, and 4 177.7 miles traveled. The report highlighted 12 children from one family needing foster homes, clothing, food, and lodging.

Man must finish speeding jail term in custody
Philip H. Banks 26, owner of a Salisbury grocery, was ordered to serve the remainder of a 60 day speeding sentence in Wicomico County Jail. He had been seen outside jail despite sentencing and faced charges including excess speed, failing to obey a traffic officer, leaving the scene of an accident, and other traffic offenses. The case arose from a police chase when a sports car wrecked at a filling station last winter. Banks appealed but dropped the appeals.
