They became trapped after the lantern fell and the oil broke. Three other explorers Jeff Harper Emerson and Calvin Leslie learned of the situation and alerted rescuers. The trapped men survived by drinking water from crevices for days, unable to communicate clearly, until rescue. Nearby residents Joshua Devilbiss and others are mentioned in brief local updates.

Mr Join Baugher's wee child ill with pneumonia but improving under Dr M I Zimmerman care. Moving excites the town as several begin flitting. Messrs Buck Reddick and Lewis Biggs returned from fishing with about twenty cattish and eels.
A large gathering at Peter Floesky’s residence near Petersville witnessed the wedding of his daughter Laura to Dewitt C Jixon. Rev HH Skyles officiated at Sadlock as Florence Haller and EE Jiersey served as attendants. gifts included a silver Easter from County Clerk Fearhake and a silver butter dish from L. Roesky and wife. A Friday reception followed at Ren S Dixon’s residence.
Week long events ran Tuesday to Friday focusing on Primary and Principal Departments.
