Monocacy cleanup continues with ongoing efforts
Mr Nichols says Saturday’s cleanup is not an end all project and will be ongoing. Maryland officials including Secretary Robert Perciasepe toured sites as the Chesapeake Bay Trust donated 7800 dollars. They cite deforestation and heavy silt, noting 66 percent of the watershed is agricultural and 7 210 to 134 000 tons of silt enter the river daily. A civic club adoption campaign and more cleanups are planned.

Budget and tax bills stall in Senate committee
Budget and election financing measures move through the House but await Senate action. A cap of 4000 on PAC contributions to lower tier candidates puzzles supporters while Miller backs an 8000 ceiling. A reforestation bill would force developers to limit tree loss and require replants. The House Environmental Matters Committee approved a revised Senate bill Friday and sends it to the floor. Mitchell sees no major conflicts likely to trigger marathon sessions.
