Coweta moves toward the county elections as nine offices attract multiple candidates. Sheriff contenders are J A Stephens and J D Brewster while John Askew seeks tax receiver and J H Hyde runs again for tax collector.候
Milltown reports frequent relocations as families move to nearby towns and farms. Several residents recover from illness while others face health setbacks. Church notes add a forthcoming Lovejoy Memorial service and a positive view of ongoing church growth.
B Parks formerly with Newnan Cotton Mills led two friends on a night tour through Milltown coloring several spots red or blue. Policeman Shackelford halted the spree, and Mayor Burdett arranged settlement. Parks paid 10, Brown 3.50, John Brown was discharged.
A Valentine gathering hosted by Mrs. Earnest Barrett drew thirty guests to a red heart themed afternoon. Hostess wore tan crepe de chine as decor featured ferns and blossoms, with heart shaped score cards and a two course luncheon. Winners included Mrs. J.T. Fain for high score, Mrs. Mike Powell second, and Miss Lizzie Arnold with the consolation prize. The bride and groom, described as Theodosia Pickering and Mr. Patterson, paraded in with lilies of the valley and Parma violets amid congratulations before departing for Griffin.
The Euchre Club enjoyed a lively Tuesday session with Mrs. Sanders Gibson. Mrs. Robert Maddox won first prize white silk hose, Miss Lizzie Arnold drew consolation black silk hose, and Mrs. Alton Arnold took the booby prize. A wedding of Mary Orr to D Frank Patterson of Griffin was held at 5 pm at Mrs. Orr’s home with tropical decor and Mendelssohn's wedding march.
The past week saw multiple arrests and penalties among African Americans. Brad Arnold stole coal from Captain Thomas Leigh and was bailed. Jess Cook, a 12 year old, stole shingles from L B Mann and was set to 30 days on the streets by the Mayor after parental discretion. Green Smith paid five dollars for drunken disorder. Olen Griffin, about 18, jailed for wholesale theft from D W Boone and partners, previously serving a 12 month chain gang sentence for a similar crime.
Mrs. Alice Dickson, wife of the late Thomas Dickson, died Monday night at nine at her son in law G W Byram’s home. She was a Providence Baptist church member and is survived by her brother W T Lazenby. Funeral at Emory Chapel conducted by Rev J S Hardaway followed a life of gentleness and stability.
Mrs. Peggy Moore died at her sons home near Waco Texas on the 4th of this month. She was 77 and born in Coweta county. She left for Texas about twenty years ago and leaves four sons in Texas and one brother T Brown of this place. She was a missionary Baptist beloved by all who knew her.
Berne Cavender the young man charged with selling liquor has returned to Newnan after leaving the city last August. He forfeited his bond then and will stand trial in the Mayor's court this Saturday.
Warning to all persons not to hunt on lands of W A Turner Sr in Coweta County. Violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Also a sales note promoting Blue Gem Coal sold by Goodwyn's Coal Yard sourced from Jellico Tennessee.

J T Holmes operates as a real estate and renting agent with an office above the First National Bank.
Simon Scroggins a deaf Black man about forty was found dead in the woods near Welcome in the 4th District. The coroner’s inquest charged Fred Grimes and Ludie Stephens, two Black men, with Scroggins’s murder for about 40 dollars. Stephens was jailed, Grimes tracked and arrested later. The pair confessed of killing Scroggins by bludgeoning from behind on a woodland path. The case was set for commitment trials before Justice Swint with indictments sought.
