A compilation from the Newell Mirror recounts local veterans from Newell who served in Korea and Vietnam, including Benj and Robert Kremenak who adopted a Korean war orphan. Notable stories include Dr Verne Fitchett in Vietnam, Capt James Adams’ 200+ combat missions, Dennis Groth’s injuries, Lt Duane Arnold’s leg wound, Rex Eno’s Bronze Star and Navy Cross honors for heroism, LeRoy Poulsen’s Navy Cross tribute, Kurt Paeper’s injuries and Purple Heart, and community observances.
