Middleton Man Killed by Electric Train
A 22 year old Middleton man, John White, was struck and killed by an electric train near Sherwood. Witnesses say he lay on the track in a drunken stupor after leaving a Sherwood saloon with a bottle nearby. The body was taken to Sherwood where the coroner was notified.

Robbers abandon Gaston State Bank theft attempt
An attempted bank robbery at the Gaston State Bank failed when robbers were discouraged near the manganese strong box in the safe. The bank, built last year, had its night work halted.
