General Kitchener enters Omdurman at the head of the Anglo Egyptian column after routing the Dervishes. Casualties run about 200 on our side, with thousands of Dervishes killed or wounded. The battle featured a notable Twenty first Lancers charge and heavy cross fire from three brigades.

Dynamite Explosion Kills Four in Indiana County Toll

A Bloomington sent dispatch reports four men killed instantly and several injured in a dynamite blast while blasting rock for a new pike near Stinteville. The dead were John Williams John Grubb Buck Wampler and Edward Watts. The fatally injured include Ben Fyffe Milton Hike and Willie Liford. Coroner summoned from Bloomington. All victims were well known county citizens aged 40 to 50.

Raft for Bibl Lumber Company Reaches Port After Breakup

In San Francisco on September 1, remnants of a large raft started down the coast for the Bibl Lumber Company were towed into port after breaking in two near Point Keyes. About 1,000,000 feet of amber logs were lost, but the salvage will cover the lows and expenses.

The marine hospital service was informed of 10 new yellow fever cases discovered at Orwood, Misa, marking a renewed outbreak in the region as of September 5.
