The Presse notes brass encased bullets used by Filipino forces were found in a soldier’s leg at Polycotiec hospital. Lieutenant Joseph L. Donegan of the Ninth Regiment, wounded in the Philippines, is recovering at Governors Island after surgeons removed a large brass encased bullet encysted in his leg.
Manila reports 800 insurgents attacked the Fourth cavalry with three futile charges, three insurgent deaths, and no American casualties. A ferry raft carrying 14 Third cavalry men and horses was swept away by a strong current, with only one diver reported drowned.

August Becker hanged in Chicago for murdering his wife Rachel and disposing of the body by cutting and boiling remains. He was executed at the county jail. His neck did not break and the death occurred after sixteen minutes. Hecker denied guilt and named George as the real murderer.
Rear Admiral W Tradford's navy report confirms the San Francisco to Manila trans pacific cable is physically practicable. Deep Western Pacific abysses and a 12 000 foot submerged mountain were bypassed by a workable route via Honolulu Midway and Guam with a landing at Strange Island to secure a Pacific loop.
