Inter Collegiate Oratorical Contest Arrives in Newberg
The State Inter Collegiate Oratorical Contest comes to Newberg for the first time in eight years with Pacific College representing the association. Meade G. Elliott of Pacific College will present an oration on The Peril of Democracy at Wood-Mar hall, followed by a banquet at Odd Fellows Hall and a full evening of music and speeches by delegates from Pacific University Albany College Willamette University and McMinnville College.

Obituary of Caroline Sackrider of Newberg and Dayton
Caroline Sackrider born October 9 1853 in Oxford county Canada died near Dayton Oregon March 6 1913. She married Simon Stevens in 1870 and moved to Newberg in 1881 later residing in Yamhill county. Survived by husband six children nineteen grandchildren an adopted daughter three brothers and two sisters in Canada and Kansas. She joined the Friends church about twenty years ago and guided her family with Christian kindness.
