Daring aviator Charlie K. Se plans a high altitude attempt in a Curtiss biplane at the Portland meet amid cross country and high speed records. Railroads offer one and one third fare to spectators from Portland, Medford and The Dalles. Local businessmen will fly machines and promote the event prompting public support and registrations.
The Chehalem Center report covers the Francis Willard memorial meeting at Mrs S W New house on February 17. Edith Minchin delivered a paper on Francis B Willard and others read selections. a $3.61 memorial fund was raised. Mrs N G Kirk left to be with her daughter. A J Palmer returned from California and travels south.
Word from Pennsylvania reports the death of Mrs M Wooton former pastor of Friends church in Newberg after a severe apoplectic stroke followed by another stroke. She died February 11 at age seventy four years two months and twenty days. She was widely known from east to west and remembered for a sunny disposition while serving in church ministry.
The Catholic and Christian Tabernacle churches announce two Easter Masses and services led by Mrs. Ella Hunter with related YPSCE events. The Hodist Church reports revival meetings at the Methodist Episcopal church with daily sessions and Sabbath themes Building the Walls of Jerusalem and The Age of the Books. A letter from a society woman will be read next Monday night. All welcome.
The Shiloh Woman's Relief Corps No. 28 mourns the death of member Mrs. Rachel Webber. The corps drapes its charter for 30 days and sends copies to the family and local papers. minutes will record the resolutions. Committee members Lettie Eggers, Millie Whitten, Mary E C Scott submit the note.
The Walker family plans to depart for Alberta with the men leaving this week and the women following later. George Bush and family visit friends before an early week departure. Mark Ashlamen heads to Alberta while Fred Blanchard relocates near Dayton. Mrs. George Christenson and daughter visited near Dayton last week. E Fendall returns to a former farm and plans to move as soon as the school term ends. S M Calkins and H Amath made trips to Portland and McMinnville for business and travel last week.
Mrs. Sloan leads a push to fund a women’s club room in Newberg at a cost of 4000 dollars the maximum for the city size. A meeting at Crater’s hall Thursday at 7 30 p m invites citizens with interest in the proposal to attend. Local sports notes report a 25 24 free throw and a Philomath field goal. Prof W J Reagan flew to Dallas Friday to referee a Dallas Philomath game. A Saturday league finale features a home game between McMinnville and the locals with high expectations.

Miss Rhoda Imus visits Newberg with Mrs Bernhard Groth’s sister. Mr. Thomas Prince returns from McMinnville business trip. Asa Morse moves to Red Hill area. Grandpa Keyes celebrates granddaugher Clara Hardwick’s top Marion County teacher exam score. Needlework Club meets at Mrs Crosby's. weather limits attendance. Rev Jeannette Ferris lecture praised by Wednesday Club. Orville Livengood opens a town meat market. Prof Swink and Will Allan attend teacher institute in Newberg. W S Allan and Geo Morrison visit McMinnville. Mrs W S Allan recovers from illness.
